Studio Visit with Artist Miguel A. Aragón

April 18 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Installation photo of the artwork "Imprinting History", 2017. by Miguel Aragón (Mexican, active United States, born 1978)

Join executive director Nicole Donnelly for an intimate conversation with master printmaker and professor Miguel Aragón, one of three remarkable artists who’ll be visiting the Morgan as part of the Collaborative Residency for Artists and Apprentices. This grant, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, aims to introduce leading contemporary artists, all of them non-papermakers, to the transformative medium of hand papermaking. “Using the idea of erasure as language,” says Aragón, “I explore subjects of violence, memory, perception, and the multiple, through processes that are reductive. I endeavor to illustrate how erasure, however violent and destructive, can also be an act of creation.”
