Susan and Dean Trilling, Honorary Hosts of the 2026 Fine Print Fair
Susan and Dean Trilling, who both grew up in Boston, met during high school at temple confirmation class and share a lifelong interest in art inspired by their parents. Dean moved to Cleveland to study at Case Western Reserve University, and Susan joined him following their marriage in 1972. Dean pursued a career in information technology, while Susan worked in women’s retail before retiring to raise their two sons, both of whom also enjoy art. Scott, his wife Meghan, their teenage son, and a college-bound daughter live in St. Louis. Andrew resides near Cleveland with his wife Erin and two girls aged 9 and 12, all of whom regularly visit the Cleveland Museum of Art and the west side Community Arts Center.
Susan and Dean began collecting contemporary prints early in their marriage, commemorating important occasions with acquisitions that gradually filled their homes. Their inaugural purchase, Josef Albers's Homage to the Square, remains displayed in their residence. Over the decades, they have curated a diverse collection featuring regional and internationally recognized print artists, as well as notable works in glass and ceramics.
Having joined CMA in the early 1980s and the Print Club of Cleveland in 1988, Susan and Dean have actively engaged in club activities, including leadership positions. They deeply value the friendships and mentorship received from fellow members and curators while attending Print Club events, receptions, home tours, and travel experiences. The club’s annual publication print has played a significant role in guiding their collecting efforts and assisting their sons in building their own collections. The Fine Print Fair has served as a meaningful source of education and enjoyment. While they “have no more wall space,” there have been more than a few fairs where a print made its way to their car – with the appropriate proof of purchase of course! Susan and Dean are thrilled to continue support of the club and the 2026 edition of the Fine Print Fair.
